Distractions are all around us. We see it all the time the person who is texting and driving. or someone walking down the street talking on the phone trips and falls because they were not paying attention to where they were going. In all these cases these were people who were distracted. If there is one thing I know is that distractions can be dangerous and even deadly at times. Many times we don’t realize how distracted we are until we have loss a large amount of time and purpose. It is at these times we ask ourselves how did we end up wasting so much time? And how did I allow this to happen?
What exactly is a distraction? According to the dictionary a distraction is defined as anything thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. As I look at that definition I believe all of us can pinpoint times in our lives were this definition describes the situation we were in. What happens when we are distracted? We give time and attention to things and people who sometimes do not need it or are trying to prevent us from progressing on in our lives towards the visions and goals that we have set. When we focus on things that aren’t a priority we end up losing. And at times we live in a state of regret because we have not accomplished all that we desired to see done. It is very important that we all locate these places and relationships in our lives and realize how to manage them and even get rid of the unnecessary ones. We cannot be so consumed with others issues and situations that we do not tend to ourselves. It is very easy to become distracted dealing with situations that may not be a priority or people who are just toxic. Think about it there are people who come into your life and they never bring anything beneficial but only distractions. They create an atmosphere of negativity and can cause emotional wreckage to distract and detour you. You have to realize that when you are a focused individual there will be many things that come your way.
You have to make a decision not to be distracted. and if you find yourself being distracted make an effort to ensure that you eliminate those things in yourself and around you that prevent you from accomplishing your goals. If you ever notice in a horse race the horsemen puts blinders on the horse so he doesn’t get distracted and stays on track. And that’s exactly what you need to do with some things and some people put blinders on. Distractions come to take your focus don’t allow that happen but realize that you have too much to accomplish to be distracted. Once you locate those things and people who are dangerous distractions eliminate them and pursue your visions and goals. When you decide that you aren’t going to be distracted that’s when you will encounter what seems to be even more, but as you stay focused your vision will become clearer and closer. And you will appreciate the focus that you have put into what matters most.
