Langston Hughes posed the question “What happens to a dream deferred?” That same question is still being asked today. A lot of us have dreams and desires that we have not seen come to reality, but as we pause to remember Dr. King and his dream we should be encouraged to pick up our dreams and pursue them. Join me and my special guest Shaun Derik as we discuss “The Power of A Dream”

Learn More About My Guest:
Artist, producer, life coach and speaker Shaun Derik uses the power of music to inspire and empower his audiences to achieve the deepest dreams of their hearts. “His style is fresh,” “uncut,” and “genre-resistant,” says Harlem Magazine—adjectives that reflect Shaun’s passionate, unconventional performance. With a heavy background in the arts, Shaun was most known for his stellar stage productions. After receiving a write up in a local paper about his performance, Shaun decided it was time to move to New York in an effort to expand his influence. There he immediately began working with several theatre directors, TV personalities and non-profits.
In 2007, a phone conversation with TV actress and film director Kim Fields about improving the quality of programming for young people, prompted Shaun to start his own movement. He teamed up with R.E.A.C.H. Communications, Inc. founder, Javier Sanchez to take his message to the masses. Together they’ve reached more than 500,000 young people. He then founded DREAMSONG Ent., a production company designed to deliver
inspirational and relevant content for today’s dreamer. His most recent projects include his speaking album, “Dreams & Detours” and the hit reality web-series “JourneyMe.”
Today, Shaun continues to tour the country delivering a contagious message of hope to kids, teens, and adults through both music and the spoken word. He blends improvisation, heartfelt lyrics, and soulful melodies to create a unique performance style that evokes both laughter and tears.
